That sounds like a lack of communication. Not saying it’s on you. It’s likely coming from both parties. I get what you’re saying for sure. There are a lot of women who martyr themselves for motherhood and it’s often both sad and depressing. I wasn’t one of them. I’m a whole person, and made sure I did things for myself in there too.
Clearly I didn’t conduct this report/survey, I’m just reporting about it, but I do note that there was an older population of folks surveyed so I don’t believe most of them would be in the age range to still have kids at home so I don’t think this would be an issue in this case.
Regardless, talking makes a huge difference in any case. But listening makes a bigger one.
